Gutter Cleaning in Mooresville, NC

We treat every gutter project as a top priority. Attention to detail is the heart and soul of our business. We go far beyond providing simple gutter services, giving you incredible insight into your seamless gutters project. Your gutter installation will be handled by licensed and insured professionals. It all starts here, please begin below.

foundation-damage.jpg

Foundation Damage

The primary role of your gutter system is to channel water off of your roof and direct it away from your home’s foundation. Gutter blockages can result in water running over the sides of your gutters. That water will eventually settle around your foundation. With time, pooling water will affect the reliability of your home’s structure, causing cracks, mold growth, and even collapse.

Wood-Damage.jpg

Wood Damage

Your home’s gutter system is held up by fascia boards, which are typically made of wood. When your clogged gutters overflow with water, your fascia boards will begin to rot. On top of that, your fascia boards must hold the increased weight of your clogged gutters. The combination of rot and weight can cause your gutter system to fail, resulting in expensive repairs.

Landscaping-Damage

Landscaping Damage

If you want to maintain the beauty of your landscaping, having clog-free gutters is essential. When your gutters can’t do their job, overflowing water will pour down the sides of your home. Eventually, this water will damage the trees, shrubs, and flower beds close to the base of your home.

Gutter-Damage.jpg

Gutter Damage

When your gutters are full of leaves and other debris, rainwater, and other forms of precipitation have nowhere to go. This causes water to fill your gutters to the brim. Because each gallon of water weighs around eight pounds, this extra weight will cause your gutters to crack, bend, or even tear away from your roof. Your gutters are rendered completely useless at that point, and you’re looking at very expensive repairs.

If you don’t have the time and patience to commit to proper gutter cleaning, The Gutter Gorilla team is here to help. We have been cleaning gutters in Mooresville for years. With a fully trained team of gutter professionals on staff, we have the experience and resources to clean your gutters effectively and efficiently.

Common Signs of Clogged Gutters

One of the most common questions we get at The Gutter Gorilla centers around when homeowners need gutter cleaning in Mooresville, NC. The answer is nuanced, but generally speaking, your gutters need to be cleaned twice a year or whenever they become clogged. Unfortunately, it’s not exactly easy for the average homeowner to climb up on a ladder, get on their roof, and look to see if their gutters are full of debris.

Luckily, there are some common signs that you can look out for to save yourself from costly repairs:

Sagging-Gutters-1

Sagging Gutters

When debris like pine needles and leaves begin to build up in your gutters, the increased weight can cause your gutters to bend and sag. When this happens, your gutters can’t do their job of directing water away from your home. If your gutters appear to be sagging, chances are they are clogged.

Birds-and-Pests-2.png

Birds and Pests

Animals like birds find gutters a very appealing place to make a nest. If you notice birds or other critters scurrying around in your gutters, it can be a tell-tale sign that your gutters are clogged with nest-making materials.

Stains-on-Your-Siding-1

Stains on Your Siding

If you see stains on your siding, there is a good chance that your gutters are clogged, and standing water is overflowing onto your siding. This overflow of water can damage the fascia boards behind your gutters and can also affect your roof’s shingles.

Plant-Life-1

Plant Life

It might sound far-fetched, but if your gutters have enough dirt and debris buildup, seeds within that dirt can sprout, causing a garden to grow in your gutters. If you notice signs of plant growth in your gutters, they are most likely clogged and need to be cleaned ASAP.

In today’s fast-paced world, we understand that your time is precious. If you believe your gutters are clogged but don’t have the time to check, we would be happy to travel to your home for an initial gutter inspection.

During your inspection, our team will check your gutters for clogs and debris. While we are inspecting your gutters for clogs, we will also keep an eye out for signs of wear and tear and other issues that might cause damage to your home. When we’re done, we will go over what we found and provide you with a cost-effective solution for any problems that arise. That way, you can spend more time focusing on your family and your life and less time worrying about fixing your gutters by yourself.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Heads up for anyone traveling toward Pigeon River Gorge, you'll be met with delays on I-40.

NCDOT is replacing a bridge on I-40 that spans over Harmon Den Road and Cold Springs Creek. It's going to take about six months, meaning it affects holiday traffic.

NCDOT and Tennessee's DOT are working together and hope drivers will consider taking a different route through Kingsport, TN., and checking out traffic apps for suggestions to avoid the delays. In North Carolina, you can visit www.DriveNC.gov for real-time traffic information.

"I expect heavy delays in the gorge around the project area, and in both directions," Chad Franklin, NCDOT Regional Intelligent Traffic Service Engineer said. "Traffic is certainly heavier during the holidays, and this year delays could be extensive near the state line."

Delays aren't relegated to just that specific bridge replacement location either. NCDOT says expect signs as far east as Burke County, as far south as Henderson County, and as far west as Knox County, Tenn. alert drivers of the lane closure and suggest I-26 and I-81 as an alternative route.

"Drivers have two good options: participate in the zipper merge approaching the work zone or travel on I-26 and I-81 through Kingsport, an option that adds about 45 minutes to a typical commute between Asheville and the I-40/I-81 interchange," NCDOT advises in a press release.

"Drivers are not recommended to take any exit between Newport, Tenn. and Asheville to traverse mountain roads. While some of these roads might be suggested by travel apps, they may be gravel rather than paved and could be steep or include sharp curves. Trucks are prohibited from driving U.S. 25/70 through Madison and Cocke counties."

"The number of drivers on I-26 and across western North Carolina will be higher than normal," Franklin said. "Travelers should plan ahead, travel early or late in the day, and prepare with the necessary food, water and medication."

The following popular NCDOT Rest Areas in western North Carolina will be open this week:

• I-26 East: Welcome Center in Madison County at mile marker 6 • I-26 West: Welcome Center in Polk County at mile marker 67 • I-40 East: Welcome Center in Haywood County at mile marker 10 • I-40 East: Rest Area in McDowell County at mile marker 82 • I-40 West: Rest Area in McDowell County at mile marker 82 • I-40 West: Rest area in Pigeon River Gorge at mile marker 10 • U.S. 23/74 West: Rest Area in Haywood County south of Waynesville • U.S. 23/74 East: Rest Area in Cherokee County north of Blue Ridge Parkway • U.S. 23/441: Rest Area in Macon County three miles from Georgia • U.S. 19/74: Rest Area in Cherokee County north of Blue Ridge Parkway

MOORESVILLE, NC — Shoppers can take comfort in knowing the deals they find online Monday are legitimate if they just keep in mind a few safety tips from the Better Business Bureau, that way $4 waffle makers don't turn into a $400 credit card disputes.

1) Watch out for phishing scams. We used to get telemarketer calls, now we get texts too. BBB advises to be really careful about what you click on, even on your phone. If you see an interesting message, log on to the actual website instead of clicking the link or replying. They also say to beware letters, because some scammers are still using old-fashioned tactics and preying on vulnerable people that way.

2) Use your credit card. Credit cards have built in security protection and you can report fraud to your credit card company. It's not the same with debit cards, so a credit card is your best bet. If a seller tells you to use a debit card or a prepaid card, that's a big billowing red flag it's a scam.

3) Price check before you buy. BBB says websites can claim they have the lowest price, but they can be fibbing. Googling the item and comparing it to other stores can save you money and help you avoid being scammed out of your hard-earned dollars.

4) Keep your antivirus software up to date. Not sure if you're in a weird place on the Internet? It happens. If you have antivirus software, keep it updated so ads or websites don't take advantage of you or your personal information.

5) Check website legitimacy. If you think you're in a sketchy place, trust your instincts and do some research. Check out their BBB Business Profile on BBB.org, look at the rating and read customer reviews. Also, look in your address bar and see if the web address says HTTPS. Secure web addresses begin with HTTPS:// and not just HTTP://. Don't put personal or credit card information in forms on non-secure web pages or you're taking a huge risk.

For Mooresville, click here to go right to the BBB to check out any business before you buy.

Pregnant women in Iredell County have moderate vulnerability to poor health outcomes, according to a new analysis.

MOORESVILLE, NC — The U.S. is far behind most other developed countries when it comes to maternal health, for reasons that are complex. A new index aims to pinpoint the key factors on a local level.

The new maternal vulnerability index, compiled by the nonprofit Surgo Ventures, ranks counties and states on factors including general and reproductive health care, mental health and substance abuse, socioeconomic factors and the physical environment.

The index, which ranges from zero to 100, is based on 43 indicators. A higher score indicates a greater likelihood for poor pregnancy outcomes including preeclampsia, premature birth and maternal death.

Iredell County ranks in the "moderate" risk category for maternal health with an index score of 47.2, according to Surgo Ventures. Comparatively, all of North Carolina scored a 76.

Iredell County breakdown:

North Carolina breakdown

"When it comes to a mother's health and survival, the United States fares worst among high-income countries," said Surgo Ventures CEO Dr. Sema K. Sgaier. "What's been even less carefully explored is the degree to which a woman's environment contributes to her risk of pregnancy-related death or other poor health outcomes."

About 700 women die in the U.S. annually from pregnancy-related health conditions, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Surgo Ventures found that maternal vulnerability is highest in the South and Midwest, as well as many rural areas. However, most areas of the country can stand to improve: More than half of all U.S. counties have at least one of the six subcategories that fall in the "very high" risk category.

Black and American Indian and Alaska Native women of reproductive age were more likely to live under worse conditions for maternal health.

"We know that common sociodemographic factors such as education and income don't protect women of color from being subject to worse maternal health outcomes," said Dr. Ololade Okito, a neonatologist at Children's National Hospital, during a panel discussion about maternal vulnerability. "I believe the Maternal Vulnerability Index can be a powerful tool for bridging the racial maternal health gap, helping us better understand, and design solutions around, the content and context of women's lives."

Racial and ethnic disparities continue to exist even when accounting for education and other factors, according to a 2019 CDC study. The study found that black women have a pregnancy-related death rate three times that of white women.

MOORESVILLE, NC — As the costs of food, gas and other necessities rise across the United States, the holidays could be particularly bleak for some U.S. families. Many children could wake up on Christmas morning to find Santa missed their homes altogether.

It's a heartbreaking realization for any parent or child, especially as families continue to recover from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, the U.S. Postal Service is hoping Mooresville residents will step up to help make the holidays a little merrier and brighter for families who may be experiencing financial hardship.

For the second consecutive year, the Postal Service is taking its Operation Santa program nationwide. The program, which dates back to 1912, encourages kids from across the country to write letters to "Santa." Once the letters are received and posted online, others are encouraged to "adopt" and respond to one or more letters of their choosing. Adopting a letter typically means fulfilling one or numerous requests on the child's wish list.

Live in Mooresville? Click here to subscribe to our free breaking news alerts delivered to your inbox and mobile devices. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and download our free mobile app on Android or iPhone.

Anyone in the United States is allowed to write a letter, regardless of religion or denomination, according to the Postal Service's website. Letters requesting clothes and shoes should include sizes and colors. Those requesting toys, games and books should be specific.

How To Mail A Letter

1) Any family with a child who wants to write to Santa should use this "official" post office address:

2) Write your full name and return address in the upper left corner of the envelope. Then, apply a first-class stamp in the upper right.

3) Letters will be posted to the USPSOperationSanta.com website. Letter adoptions opened on Nov. 29 and will continue through Dec. 22.

4) Drop the letter off at your nearest post office.

5) All letters must be postmarked by Dec. 10. Once letters are received, they will be posted online through Dec. 15 and will be available for adoption through Dec. 22. The sooner your letter is received, the more likely it is to be answered.

More details on writing and adopting letters through the Operation Santa program can be found at USPSOperationSanta.com.
